Ella's First Christmas!

Christmas day has come and gone (seems the years go faster every year? Is that a sign of age?) and I still have not posted any gorgeous pictures for you to see of ellas 1st Christmas. So here they are...

Ella woke especially early on Christmas morning, and usually I would give her a feed and send her off to sleep straight away, but Christmas morning of course was different! There were presents to be opened from Santa...Ella has been a good girl this year it seems, as there were a tonne of presents left for her! A full sack of pressies, including things to play in the bath with dad and things to play in the big bath (or plop as daddy calls it - I think because she makes that sound when she is put in the water?!) at Nonna and Nonnos house...Pool toys!!
I think Mum and dad were a little more excited this year than poor sleepy little Ella, but she did seem to find the wrapping paper and all the wonderfully wrapped presents from Nana a lot of fun. (Thanks Nana and Auntie Jessie for the truck load of carefully wrapped goodies for Ella and us!)
She also got a mini piano which she has taken to play with her feet (ever so talented our little girl hehe) and a swing when the weather fines up....It was completely miserable weather this year, so cold, Ella couldn't wear any of the beautiful clothes Nana had made for her, so we put a cute "warmer" little santas helper outfit on her with layer upon layer underneath. (It looks as though Avalon wore similar attire (Monique we have such similar ideas it freaks me out!)) They both look incredibly cute in them...Santa would be proud to have such spunky little helpers.

After a good two hours of opening presents...It all got a bit much for poor little Ella and it was time for some sleep.

When she finally awoke we headed over to nonna and nonnos house and had a perfectly prepared lunch with turkey and the works.. Ella even had a good go of the turkey stuffing, turkey, apple sauce, and even some of Mums home made pudding! ( she absolutely loved the pudding, couldn't get enough.)

As usual the day was full of fun, food and people flaking it mid afternoon and we came home full and exhausted. Thanks Mum and Dad for a wonderful spread!! Same time next year?

A big thank you for all of those ( you know who you are ) that sent or personally gave Ella presents, you helped make her 1st Christmas one for us to remember and tell her about one day!

Too hot to handle!

This past weekend has been a stinker here in Melbourne. It was forecast for 37 degrees Saturday and 28 degrees Sunday...But it was more like, over 40 and high 30's both days......Way too hot to handle! Especially when us poor melbournians are only used to most days being low 20's!!

Of course, we had a bbq planned yesterday with our mothers group, so instead of canceling we faced the heat and just stayed a short time...The babies did really well and we generally pretty happy, Ella had fun with her little boyfriend cooper...So cute! I Just kept her cool with lots of water and cold towels that I kept in the eski...So it was all good...But when we got home, both her and I had a mega sleep...It really knocked us out. Thank god it is cool today. Typical Melbourne. Stinking hot one day, freezing the next!

Last night, we FINALLY put up the Christmas tree..Ella helped her dad of course, by watching him, maybe next year she can help put up the decorations?! Or maybe she might throw them around instead?! hehe

We are off to get little Ella weighed today....I know she must be close to 10kg
she is getting so heavy now... I will keep you all posted!

Our first family holiday...

We are well and truly back from our lovely mini break at metung. We left last Sunday and arrived back on Wednesday night. I couldn't have asked for a more peaceful, quiet and relaxing break. Our trip there had a few more stops than we had intended, I guess that's what happens when there is feeds and bums to be changed.
what is supposed to be a 3.5 hr drive, ended up being a 7 hour drive, but it didn't matter, we were in no rush, after all it was a holiday right!

We spent a little bit of time in metung, but most for the three days we headed to lake entrance, there was a little bit more scenery and places to eat down that way.
But metung really was beautiful...And so quiet!!! There was almost no one to be seen for miles...It was as if we were in a world of our own and we loved it!

We took Ella to the beach as pictured above, and she had a bit of a splash in the little bit of water that traveled up the beach...I was worried she would eat the sand, as everything goes in the mouth these days, and I was right...He hand did end up in her mouth once...But once she tasted that grit in her mouth, she didn't try it again...A lesson well learnt!
She got to wear one of the beautiful outfits that nana lyn made her ( the spotty red and white number) and what a little miss...She looked so cute, thanks lyn...Gorgeous!

We also on the Tuesday, which is our wedding anniversary, went on a bit of a boat ride, it was nice, not much to be seen...But nice to be out in the water....Ella was a little angel and slept most of the way.

speaking of Ella sleeping...She did wake up a bit during the nights there, but it was to be expected as she was cutting her third tooth..But over all she was a delight to have around...She must have known mum and dad were on holiday and needed a well deserved break. Thanks Ella!

not much else to say about our mini break, except it went too quick, and I wouldn't mind doing that a bit more often...thank you my dear husband for a wonderful break and anniversary present! I look forward to many more wonderful years with you xx
